This engine is a structural response engine but is primarily set up for boat fires, vehicle accidents and airport responses. Since there is no mutual aid in Sitka, engines have to be dedicated for specific responses but at the same time have to have dual purposes.

Engine 3 is our winter time response front line structural engine. It also serves as a backup engine to Engine 1. During our summer months, Engine 3 becomes a backup structural response engine. In addition to four wheel drive capabilities, the engine is also equipped with "drop down" chains.

Unlike engines 1 and 3, Engine 7 is a single stage pumper versus a dual stage. The unique color scheme, blue with the "eight stars of gold" state flag make this engine the most popular when tourist season arrives. Retired Fire Chief Gerry Hellend is responsible for its color.
